Join us Thursday, March 17 at Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant for a luncheon and presentation by Dr. Heidi Memmel on "What's New in Breast Cancer Detection and Prevention."
Presenter
Dr. Heidi Memmel, MD, FACS, graduated from Northwestern University with a bachelor's degree in German Studies and Economics. She then attended medical school at Northwestern, and General Surgery residency at University of Illinois Chicago Metropolitan Program. She then returned to Northwestern for a fellowship in Breast Cancer Surgery where she studied all aspects of breast surgery, breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Dr. Memmel is currently the Medical Co-director and Surgical Director of the Caldwell Breast Center at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge where she oversees the seven general surgeons who participate in the care of patients at the comprehensive breast center. She initiated and oversees the Risk Assessment and Prevention Program, which identifies women who are increased risk for developing breast cancer, and then counsels them regarding screening and preventative options. She also specializes in treating breast cancer in young women and during pregnancy.
Dr. Memmel has been on the medical board of several non-profit organizations such as the American Cancer Society and Bright Pink. She also is involved in the leadership of medical societies such as the American Society of Breast Surgeons, and Chicago Surgical Society. She has been voted one of Chicago Magazine and Top Tier MD's top docs for the Chicagoland area, and has been named as one of Castle Connolly's top doctors for many years.
