Congratulations to our Local Heroes:
This year the Bob Wordel Living Legend Award is presented to Angelo Troiani. “Ginger” as he is affectionately known, has spent a life time dedicated to Niles. He has been an active volunteer and dedicated leader to the VFW and Lions Club and has served for many years of the Village’s Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals.
Business of the Year: Skaja Terrace Funeral Home
A family run company since 1960, Skaja Terrace Funeral Home has been a valuable company in Niles. Supporting many local organizations, schools and churches.
Ken Scheel Chamber Member of the Year: Gene Jurczak
Owner and operator of Stalwart Systems in Niles, Gene has generously shared his business success with the Niles Community. He gives both his time and financially to local causes like the Niles Chamber Dollars for Scholars and Niles Chamber of Commerce.
Niles Citizen of the Year: Mary Ann Miller
A lifelong resident, Mary Ann has volunteered in police service for the past 12 years. She coordinates volunteer hours for over 30 other volunteers and plays a pivotal role as a volunteer for the SCRAM (Senior Crime Reduction Awareness Measures) and National Night Out.
Public Safety Excellence: Anthony Scipione
Since 2007, Scipione has served as a Patrol Officer who goes beyond the normal duties on a daily basis. He enthusiastically shows dedication and takes initiative both on the job and with volunteer efforts to raise money for charitable causes.
Dedication to Youth Excellence: Susan Johnson
Susan has endless energy, dedication and enthusiasm for helping the children at Culver School. As the Social Worker, she is driven to provide a positive environment for each child to thrive by identifying individual needs and creating custom solutions for each student.
Outstanding Public Service: Linda Mathis
Linda is the Marketing Director for the Niles Family Fitness Center, she selflessly volunteers her time with the Niles Chamber Dollars for Scholars, National Night Out and Niles Chamber of Commerce.
