Senior Director of Residential Services

Orchard Village is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Senior Director of Residential Services to provide strategic and operational leadership for our 24-Hour and Intermittent Residential Programs serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
This senior-level position oversees residential operations, regulatory compliance, quality assurance initiatives, staff development, program performance, and continuous quality improvement efforts while ensuring high-quality, person-centered supports that promote the health, safety, welfare, and rights of those we serve.
The Senior Director serves as a key leader within the organization and works collaboratively with program, clinical, nursing, quality assurance, and administrative teams to ensure excellence in service delivery.
What You’ll Do
- Provide leadership, coaching, and support to the residential management team
- Ensure compliance with Illinois DHS Rule 115 & 116, HCBS Settings Rule, Medicaid Waiver requirements, CARF standards, and agency policies
- Lead quality assurance, risk management, auditing, corrective action planning, and regulatory readiness efforts
- Analyze operational trends, incidents, staffing patterns, training compliance, and service outcomes to drive continuous improvement
- Oversee residential program performance and support strategic planning initiatives
- Partner with Human Resources on recruitment, retention, onboarding, and staff development efforts
- Lead preparation and response efforts for DHS surveys, audits, licensing reviews, and OIG investigations
- Collaborate with families, guardians, nursing, behavioral health, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure exceptional client outcomes
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or related field
- 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities
- Illinois QIDP Certification or eligibility
- Knowledge of Illinois DHS regulations, Medicaid Waiver programs, HCBS requirements, and residential operations
- Experience leading compliance, quality assurance, and operational improvement initiatives
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and team development skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred
- Master’s Degree in a related field
- Experience with CARF accreditation standards
- Experience overseeing multiple residential programs or locations
