Special Education Teacher

The Special Ed Teacher is the case manager of a therapeutic, transition day school for students with disabilities, ages 17 - 22. S/he will develop curriculum, plan daily schedules, develop and implement IEPs, and coordinate with the Social Worker, Vocational Coordinator, and Teaching Assistants. S/he must be creative and energetic to include both practical lessons and life skills. Low teacher-to-student ratio. The job emphasizes teaching life skills and independence, vocational skills, career development, achieving goals, and community integrated activities. The program focuses on the four components of transition planning: Employment, Training, Education, and Independent Living.

Requirements:

-BA Special Education

-Learning Behavior Specialist 1 (LBS1) Endorsement

-2+ years of experience,

-2+ years of experience with students in a classroom with Cross Categorical Disabilities

-Applicants must be proficient with computers, Microsoft office, electronic IEPs

-Have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
