Refrigeration Technician (Refrigeration/ Maintenance / HVAC Tech / Service Technician)
ABETTER POUR self-performs as a regional product distributor and service provider in the Midwest and coordinates with partner distributors in all fifty states and Canada. Due to the growth of our company, we are seeking a Commercial Refrigeration Technician to add to our team in the Chicago area and help us continue the growth. As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance, service, and retrofit/replacement of Commercial Refrigeration equipment.
You will provide maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting, as well as diagnosis and repair of specific commercial cooling systems. This role will meet with customers, evaluate needs, and make recommendations.
Demonstrating a thorough understanding of basic refrigeration & part/components and their applications
Diagnosing controls and equipment problems and recommending the repair or replacement of equipment in the best interest of the customer
Recovering and charging refrigerants used in AC equipment and following all EPA mandates for refrigerant recovery
Writing and communicating, on a daily basis, legible and comprehensive service tickets and reporting to dispatch labor and materials used
Communicating with customers regarding the nature of the repair, replacement, or installation
Adhering to all safety procedures set forth in the Engineering Excellence Safety Handbook and facility/customer safety programs
Serving on an “On-Call" rotation and responding to after-hours service requests
The successful Technician requires a high school diploma/GED, CFC certification or HVAC related journeymen license, or equivalent industrial/commercial experience. The Technician must have the ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative in servicing customers, and maintaining positive customer relations. Great communication skills as well as strong knowledge of AC, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance is a must. You must be proficient in the recovery and charging of refrigerants used in AC equipment and to follow all EPA mandates for refrigerant recovery.
Must pass Criminal Background Check
Ability to read and understand equipment wiring diagrams and ability to troubleshoot and repair based on your knowledge of the subject
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Minimum 5 years’ experience in the service & repair of commercial & industrial equipment
Ability to work independently
EPA Universal license
Ability to lift object up to 95 lbs.
During peak seasons, Service Technicians may be asked to travel for a week at a time to meet service demands in an efficient manner
Willingness and flexibility to travel
